Crisis Intervention Center
This is coaching in its most basic and important form: one person helping another make the decision to live for one more moment.
Ruth Ann Harnisch has been an advisor and donor to this Nashville-based nonprofit since the early 1970s.
The organization provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention training, 24/7/365 telephone support for people in crisis, and offers support to individuals and families.
The HF provided coaching support as the CIC team sought to assume the responsibility for running Middle Tennessee's 211 service.
In an overlap with The HF's interest in journalism ethics and practice, a grant was made to underwrite a pamphlet for people who work in media, helping them to cover suicide and related issues accurately, responsibly and sensitively.
