Coaching & Mentoring
Welcome to your SupporTED experience!
You are being asked to sign this agreement in partnership with your coach or mentor because you’ve requested coaching or mentoring.
Your SupporTED coach will encourage you to become an observer of your experience, choices, paradoxes, actions and interactions. You’ll learn a new way of understanding what’s going on in your world.
Your SupporTED mentor will guide you to learn new competencies and thought processes. You’ll learn a new way to approach various situations and opportunities.
Regardless of the type of support you’ve chosen, you will learn alternative ways to think and to act which then produces different outcomes than the ones you are currently creating.
If your coach or mentor thinks it is appropriate to make a referral to another resource / professional, s/he will suggest that.
Coaching and mentoring relationships are built on trust, care, and respect. All conversations focus on your wellbeing and are considered as confidential. Your coach or mentor will not reveal any of the information you disclose during your conversations together to anyone else unless you provide the permission to do so.
Coaching and mentoring sessions may last from 40 – 60 minutes, depending on your needs and your coach’s/mentor’s general practices. Your coach or mentor may invite you to email or call between session to briefly (10 minutes) discuss a problem, situation, or breakthrough.
If you decide that your coach or mentor is not the right one, please contact SupporTED at coach@TED.com. We are committed to finding the best fit for you.
In the coaching/mentoring agreement, your coach/mentor will:
- Have a conversation with you at the start of the relationship to set the ground rules, determine what you’d like to achieve from the coaching/mentoring and to discuss the level of confidentiality that would best serve you.
- Have a conversation with you to determine the policy regarding missed sessions.
- Respond to your requests and correspondence, provide appropriate support, and address needs you might have to ensure the coach / mentoring results in progress.
- Uphold the ethical guidelines of the International Coach Federation.
- Discuss and resolve any conflict of interest with your best interest in mind. If a conflict cannot be resolved respectfully and satisfactorily, your coach / mentor is obligated to terminate the coaching / mentoring agreement and notify the SupporTED team.
- Notify you as soon as possible of any change in schedule.
- Wait for you to call or arrive for 15 minutes before cancelling the session.
As the client, in order for you to attain your desired result, it is important for you to be committed to the coaching relationship. By signing this agreement and sending it to your coach or mentor, you agree to:
- Prepare for your sessions by completing commitments made in the previous session and taking the time to clarify the topic or situation that you want to focus on for that day’s coaching or mentoring session.
- Engage honestly and openly in very direct and personal conversations and share anything relevant to these conversations.
- Telephone, Skype, or meet your coach / mentor at the prearranged location at the time and date scheduled for each session.
- Understand that if you miss a session without notice or follow-up, SupporTED coaching and/or mentoring privileges may be suspended.
- Acknowledge that the learning and transformation process may be uncomfortable at times, that discomfort is an indicator that change is occurring, and change requires venturing into unfamiliar territory.
- Ask questions without censoring yourself.
- Clearly state any expectations, differences of opinion, disagreement with approach, and / or requests of coach / mentor.
- Initiate immediate follow-up communication if you miss a session for any reason.
- Acknowledge that services of the coach, mentor, and SupporTED are not intended as direct instructions but merely suggestions, guidance, and support. Any decisions made and actions taken or not taken, based on the input from the coach or mentor, are your complete responsibility, as the client.
- Acknowledge that the coach, mentor, and SupporTED team shall have no liability or responsibility for any actions you, as the client, may take or not take in connection therewith.
- Acknowledge that the coach, mentor, and SupporTED team make no guarantees or warranties, expressed or implied, as to the results to be achieved, or as to the consequences of any action, you, as the client, may take or not take.
I, as the coaching and/or mentoring client, have read and agree to abide by these policies and disclaimer of liability.
